My partners mother 'S' is terminally ill (Cancer) ... probably not long now! She ('S') and her partner have made a will. Verbally I have been told when she dies the money will go to her partner James. Now.... 'S' and James are NOT married. While 'S' is ill, James has been pushing my partner 'S''s daughter away at hospital etc for unknown reasons. cut a long story short he wants her to walk away. My partner was told she would inherit £10,000 ~ , Whe have a feeling James will spend the money or give it to his kids when he dies. My partner is finished with James and is not wanting any money to prove a point. however... is there anything she can do to contest. She is one on 4 children. James and S are not married. We live in Scotland so laws differ. Hope there is someone!! out there that can help dm-d@live.co.uk Thanks

I am sorry but we cannot comment if the matter relates to Scottish law. I would assume that laws relating to undue influence etc apply there though, but you need to speak to a scottish lawyer.
