Most people are generally familiar with epilepsy - described by the Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary as “a disorder of brain function characterised by recurrent seizures which have sudden onset”. However, few people realise that very rarely people can have epilepsy as a result of a blow to the head - often caused in an accident.

Barnetts deal with all types of cases - from the minor to the most serious. Some clients who receive blows to the head as a result of an accident can, in a tiny number of cases, go on to develop epilepsy as a result of the accident. Proving the link between the accident and the onset of the epilepsy is often extremely difficult to prove (but this is what we do) and is largely dependant on supportive medical evidence.

It is vital in these cases that people who suffer head injuries attend their GP regularly following the accident and explain fully to the GP the symptoms they are suffering with. These kinds of cases - which can be potentially extremely valuable in terms of damages, are as we say, dependant upon specialist medical experts such as Neurologists and Neurosurgeons (who we have access to) and who can provide detailed reports concerning this condition.

However, the client sometimes fails to appreciate that it is important to attend your GP if you have had any kind of blow to your head.
Claims sometimes fail if it it is difficult to prove from a medical point of view that the injury was “caused” by the accident. We have dealt with quite a number of cases however which have proved extremely successful - and have resulted in our Client’s recovering substantial damages as a result of these unfortunate and often life changing injuries to the head.

We would suggest that if you have suffered such a head injury - or know someone that has - you should contact Click Accidents on 0800 877 8978 to discuss the possibility of bringing a claim. If in any doubt and very generally speaking - if you have suffered a blow to the head and you have passed out - we would always, without question suggest you seek medical advice as soon as possible.
