I wonder if you are able to assist me with a query I have with my current employer.I am employed on a one year fixed term contract – 15th June 2011 to 14th June 2012. I have 3.5 years previous NHS employment so my annual leave allowance is 27 days.

I am being told that for calculation purposes I can only have annual leave for full months worked, which in my case is 1st July 2011 to 31st March 2012 and 1st April 2012 to 31st May 2012. Therefore even though I will have worked for the trust for a full year I will only be entitled to 24.75 days. Is this right, I thought that employees on fixed term contracts were not meant to be treated in a detrimental way to those on permanent contracts? It seems rather unfair that as I am on a fixed term contract I am loosing out on my annual leave allowance.
