Please can you help me clarify my position with my employer. For the past eight years i have worked for a local authority as an education welfare officer. i have recently been placed 'at risk' of being made redundant as my current post is being deleted and have been told that i need to take voluntary redundancy or i will need to reapply for a new role. As a result of this, i have applied for a job within another local authority and have been offered an interview next week. I have since been told by my current employer that i cannot accept a position within another authority while i am working for my current employer and that i also have to have a four week break in service before starting work with another local authority (during which time i can also not accept another) I understand that i will have to have a four week break in service s that i cannot claim redundancy twice, however can my employer enforce the fact that i am not allowed to be offered another job. If offered the new job, i was planning to negotiate a four week notice period, and then have a break of four weeks wthout working before starting my new job in 4 weeks+ 1 day is this acceptable, Many thanks in advance for your help.
